Early in the morning, a Five S Travel representative will pick you up from your hotel in Cairo and transfer you to Cairo International Airport for your domestic flight to Luxor with EgyptAir, a journey lasting approximately one hour.
Upon arrival at Luxor Airport, you will be greeted by a knowledgeable Five S Travel Egyptologist guide holding a sign with your name. Your exciting day begins on the East Bank of the Nile River, where you will explore some of southern Egypt’s most impressive ancient sites.
First, visit the vast Temple of Karnak complex, situated on the East Bank. This incredible open-air museum is one of the largest temple complexes in the world, spanning over 100 hectares. It represents one of ancient Egypt’s most ambitious architectural achievements, featuring numerous temples and monuments.
Next, head to the Temple of Luxor, located in the heart of the city on the East Bank. This magnificent temple is renowned for its beautifully preserved entrance, the first pylon, built by Ramses II and adorned with detailed carvings depicting his military victories, especially the famous Battle of Kadesh.
After exploring the East Bank, you will cross the Nile to the West Bank, where your journey continues with a visit to the legendary Valley of the Kings. This burial ground was home to many pharaohs from the 18th to the 20th dynasties, including the tomb of Tutankhamun, known for its remarkable treasures. You will visit three tombs, depending on which are open to the public during your visit, including those of rulers such as Tutmosis I, Tutmosis III, Ramses VI, Amenhotep II, and Merenptah.
Then, explore the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, also known as Deir El-Bahari, the mortuary temple dedicated to one of Egypt’s most powerful and fascinating female rulers. Queen Hatshepsut reigned for about two decades and was the stepmother of Pharaoh Thutmose III.
Finally, stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two enormous stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III standing guard on the West Bank. These statues date back to around 1350 BC during the 18th dynasty.
After a full day of exploring the wonders of Luxor, you will be transferred back to Luxor Airport to catch your return flight to Cairo. Upon arrival, a Five S Travel representative will meet you and provide transportation back to your hotel in Cairo, leaving you with unforgettable memories of your day in Luxor.
