Early in the morning, a Five S Travel tour guide will meet you at your hotel in Cairo to begin an unforgettable day exploring the iconic landmarks of the city. Your journey will start with a visit to the magnificent Great Pyramids of Giza:
The Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) stands as the sole surviving wonder of the ancient world. It is the oldest and largest pyramid in Giza, originally rising to 146 meters when completed around 2570 BC. Next, you will see the Pyramid of Chephren (Khafre), the second tallest and second largest pyramid on the plateau, which serves as the tomb of the Fourth Dynasty Pharaoh Khafre, who ruled circa 2558–2532 BC. The third pyramid, Menkaure (Mycerinus), is the smallest among the three main pyramids on the Giza Plateau and is believed to be the final resting place of Pharaoh Menkaure.
You will also admire the Great Sphinx, an extraordinary monument carved from a single block of stone. This legendary statue, with the body of a lion and the face of a man, measures 70 meters in length and 20 meters in height. Its face is thought to resemble King Khafre himself.
The tour continues to the ancient city of Memphis, which once served as the capital of Lower Egypt during the 3rd millennium BC. Situated on the west bank of the Nile River delta, Memphis is a UNESCO World Heritage site featuring archaeological remains such as necropolises and the impressive colossal statue of Ramses II, one of the largest monuments from this celebrated pharaoh.
Finally, you will visit the Step Pyramid of King Zoser in Saqqara, crafted by the legendary architect Imhotep. This pyramid is a unique structure, as it represents the first true pyramid ever built in ancient Egypt, predating the pyramids at Giza. Composed of six stacked Mastaba tombs, it symbolizes a staircase to the heavens, rising in six stepped layers on all four sides.
After this enriching tour through Egypt’s ancient history, you will be comfortably transferred back to your hotel to relax and reflect on the incredible sights you experienced.
