In the morning, a Five S Travel tour guide will meet you at your hotel in Cairo. You will then travel by private air-conditioned vehicle along the desert road to El-Fayoum Oasis, a journey of approximately one and a half hours (about 105 km).
El Fayoum Oasis is a picturesque region in Middle Egypt known for its natural beauty and unique environment. The area includes two government-protected zones: Lake Qarun and Wadi Rayan National Parks. Unlike typical oases, Fayoum receives its water through an ancient canal directly from the Nile River.
Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by lush vegetation as you explore the fascinating sites of El Fayoum:
- Meidum Pyramid: This site features a large pyramid along with several mudbrick mastabas, offering a glimpse into Egypt’s ancient architectural history.
- Qaroun Lake: Declared a protected area in 1989, this natural lake is a remnant of the ancient Moeris Lake. It’s a perfect spot for fishing, water sports, and bird watching. The prime fishing season runs from July to September.
- Wadi Al-Rayyan (Al-Rayyan Valley): Also designated a protected area in 1989, Wadi Al-Rayyan consists of two lakes connected by Egypt’s only waterfall, one of the valley’s most famous attractions. The area is a bird watcher’s paradise, home to 169 species of birds.
- Wadi Al-Hitan (Valley of the Whales): Situated in the Western Desert, this natural reserve is renowned for its remarkable whale fossils. It contains about 400 rare fossils that tell the story of whale evolution, along with fossils of other ancient animals such as sharks, crocodiles, sawfish, turtles, and rays.
After completing your exploration of these incredible sites, you will be driven back to your hotel in Cairo.
