Travel comfortably in a private, air-conditioned vehicle to visit:
The Kom Ombo Temple: This architecturally distinct temple stands out due to its dedication to two deities: the Falcon god Horus and the Crocodile god Sobek, a creation by Ptolemy VI. The temple’s layout is specially designed, featuring courts, halls, sanctuaries, and rooms in duplicates to honor both sets of gods. Notably, the southern part of the temple is devoted to Sobek, revered as the god of fertility and considered the creator of the world in ancient Egyptian religion. Conversely, the northern section is dedicated to Horus.
The Temple of Edfu (Temple of Horus): This temple, honoring Horus, the avenging son of Isis and Osiris, is also known as “Apollopolis Magna” in ancient Greek texts due to the Greeks associating Horus with their god Apollo. Located in Edfu, approximately 109 km from Luxor, this temple is one of Egypt’s best-preserved ancient structures, largely because it was completely buried under desert sands until its rediscovery in the 19th century.
After exploring these historical wonders, you will return to your hotel or Nile cruise in Aswan, concluding your enriching journey into Egypt’s ancient history.
